2004 was a great year for Signature Homes - one in which we built and sold more homes than any other year in our history. At the dawn of 2005, our team was searching for ways to demonstrate our appreciation through community service. One employee suggested we find a deserving family and remodel their home - like the ABC television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

Less than a week later, producers from that very show were in our offices asking us to help the Harris family of Center Point, Alabama. We were amazed at the courage of Diamond and Chris Harris, who despite unbelievable odds, chose to keep a family of seven children together. It hasn't been easy, but with perseverance and the support of their community, the Harris family is thriving.

The transformation of the house was incredible, but it pales in comparison to the transformation that took place within the hundreds of people who worked around the clock: volunteers, friends, family, and neighbors. The legacy of that special week will be revealed throughout the lives of the Harris children.
